Sinochem Trust has been invited again to participate in the major special research on the expansion of the national carbon market

To implement the national decision and deployment regarding the expansion of the coverage of the national carbon emissions trading market (hereinafter referred to as the "National Carbon Market"), the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has recently officially launched a special research project on the inclusion of key industries in the National Carbon Market. The China Chemical Information Center (hereinafter referred to as "China CI") has once again been invited to serve as a core supporting unit and to deeply participate in this major national research project, leveraging its extensive research accumulation and outstanding think tank service capabilities in the field of low-carbon transformation in the chemical industry.

As the China Sinochem Low-Carbon Development Research Center, China CI has always remembered its mission as "advisor for group strategic decision-making, promoter of China as a strong chemical nation, and enabler for the global chemical industry," committed to providing the country with high-level industrial decision-making support and offering wisdom and solutions for the industry's green and low-carbon transformation. On this occasion, China CI will focus on conducting research on sub-industries such as "chemical (synthetic ammonia, methanol)," undertaking core tasks such as summarizing international and domestic carbon market experiences and evaluating industry development status, contributing to designing a scientific and feasible implementation path for including the chemical industry in the National Carbon Market, and playing a key think tank role in serving the national "dual-carbon" strategy and supporting government decision-making.

The National Carbon Emissions Trading Market is a major institutional innovation that uses market mechanisms to control and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote green and low-carbon development. The purpose of this special research is to scientifically assess the necessity, urgency, and feasibility of including key industries such as petrochemicals, chemicals, paper, civil aviation, building materials, and non-ferrous metals in the National Carbon Market, and to overcome critical technical systems for quota allocation, accounting and reporting, and verification management. This will provide crucial decision-making support and program guarantees for the stable and orderly inclusion of these industries into the National Carbon Market, which has significant strategic importance for China to achieve its "dual-carbon" targets on schedule.
